| Sell advertising yourself or through www.gbshops.net | |
| Look for sponsorship. | |
| Register with some or many companies as an affiliate, and get paid a commission on sales introduced. | |
| Sign up with one or two specialist companies that will make registering with a number easy, and collect in revenues for you. |
If you have a narrow field of interest and therefore their are only a few sites you see as appropriate or if you have very high volumes you may like to sign up with individual sites to be an affiliate, however if you want to include a wide range of adverts, and are growing signing up with one of the specialist companies would be better. The UK ones pay you in Pounds, and by collecting together all the small amounts you get up to a payable amount at an early point.
You need to look out for payment minimums, if you take the individual route, in most cases if your commission does not get to a minimum, you do not loose it, it just gets carried forward. Also don't expect to much, this is a growing area, and you are unlikely to get rich quickly.
We have provided on the page available from here many links, both to agencies and individual companies. In each case there are a range of banners or various sizes adverts available.
| Unless you have a site that has very varied content, stick with a small number of affiliate schemes, it is better to have several buttons from the same company on different pages than too wide a collection that are not relevant. | |
| Most people are reading text on a web site, and totally ignore large items like banners, so your response is often far better using buttons than banners. | |
| Make sure that buttons say what they are, you may recognize a logo, but will your users? | |
| Consider hyper linked text as a see also, this may have more pulling power and get used more often. | |
| Many sites are able to be indexed directly so that you get directly to the area of interest. | |
| Watch the minimum sum that can be paid out, if its £50, consider if it will ever get to that for that site. Consider using an agency to cover the sites where you are unsure, so as to bundle the collected sums together. | |
| When comparing schemes look at what they produce as opposed to the percentage, a small percentage of a large fee is far greater than a large percentage of very little. | |
| Look at the currency it is paid in, If you are in the UK, the banks will steal a very large slice, maybe the lot if you have it in other currencies. | |
| Don't be so tight as to only include good payers or even payers. If you see a site that is of benefit add it, so that your users know you have some good connections. | |
| Experiment, all extra news and promotions that generate more contacts. | |
| Consider using an affiliate program to bring trade to you. Remember you only pay a small percent on sales so its very efficient and does not demand cash flow. Start by using agencies to handle it for you they will find a large number of affiliate. See bottom of affiliates page for details. | |
| Think of ways to bring back people to your site, competitions, quizzes, news etc. (We will be adding links soon to where you can get a range for free. | |
| Look at it as extra income from affiliate schemes don't spend it until you get it. |
